Scottsdale


With a population of almost a quarter million, Scottsdale is one of the most popular places to live in Arizona. It’s great for people in many different life stages from young professionals to retirees. In fact, according to Niche, Scottsdale is the best city to retire in America! Locals love the area for its suburban feel and quality public schools.

This desert city has so many fun things to do. The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a unique amusement park where you’ll find an antique carousel and famous railroad cars. If you’d rather shop, you’ll find plenty of cool boutiques as well as live entertainment in Old Town Scottsdale.

Gilbert


Another very family-friendly location is Gilbert. In fact, according to Niche, it’s the top place to raise a family in the Phoenix area! There are gorgeous parks and plenty of outdoor attractions to keep you busy. It has a population of about 237,500. It’s considered one of the top suburbs to live in Arizona.

If you’re the outdoorsy type, you’ll love living in Gilbert. The Freestone Park is a gorgeous park on 65 acres. Gilbert also has a killer farmers market that you can visit and purchase fresh produce at all year round.

Queen Creek


If you’re looking to live in a smaller Arizona suburb, you might like Queen Creek. There are only about 36,000 residents. This suburb is known for its great employment opportunities and high-paying jobs. Although properties in Queen Creek are more expensive than the national median, the price per square foot is lower than the average home in the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metro.

If you love being surrounded by rich agriculture, this is a great place to live! Queen Creek has it all from cornfields to orange trees. Another top attraction in Queen Creek is the Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre. You can expect to see car shows, equestrian events, and other exciting activities here.

Mesa

Located in the quaintly named Maricopa County, Mesa is a city in the state of Arizona and shares a border with the Salt River Pima- Maricopa Indian Community.  With a population of over 400,000 inhabitants, Mesa is the third largest city in Arizona after Phoenix and Tucson, and is filled with museums, art work, hiking opportunities, and delicious food and drink.

You may be in the middle of the desert, but Mesa even has two rivers! So whether you enjoy the arid environment of the pioneers or the wetlands that led settlers here to pan for gold, there is something for everyone in this city.

Chandler.

Chandler is known for being a family-friendly Phoenix suburb with superior public schools. The homes here tend to be more inexpensive than areas like Scottsdale. The overall population is just shy of 250,000.

Chandler has plenty of fun things to do! You can look forward to the Chandler Ostrich Festival which is held every spring. This fun festival is a huge draw for animal lovers and features the opportunity to ride a camel, spin in a giant hamster ball, and more! All year-round, you can enjoy Chandler’s gorgeous parks, performing arts center, and a gorgeous art gallery.

Phoenix

Residents will find plenty to do in the Phoenix area. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike trails in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, kayak or paddle board on Tempe Town Lake or enjoy desert wildlife at the Desert Botanical Garden. Dozens of museums with themes like Native American history, musical instruments, toys and firetrucks provide respite from the sun.

Cheering on Phoenix's professional sports teams, including the MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks, the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, the NBA's Suns, WNBA's Mercury and the NHL's Coyotes, is another favorite pastime. And each January, more than half a million golf enthusiasts descend on the area to watch the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Meanwhile, downtown Phoenix offers a collection of concert venues and nightclubs, as do the nearby cities of Scottsdale and Tempe.
